Letter to Both Parties

Letter to Both Parties
Gentlemen:
When you attack your foe
with facts that are quite skewed,
and he responds likewise,
the voters have been screwed.
They now feel  parties back
men of tainted history.
The fact that they are red or blue
does not help salve their misery.

If one must lie to win a seat,
we should not let the cheat compete.

The Campaign (Again)

The Campaign

They ask that I send money
that they can tell their tale,
then saturate the airwaves
and telephone and mail.
They tell their tale so often
they damn near drive me nuts.
They’ll get no more from me…
no ifs…no ands…no buts.

Stop Lights

Stop Lights

Strange, is it not, Man reached the moon
and Mars and orbs in outer space.
With stars and moon Man can attune,
but traffic lights fools cannot pace.

Men time ignition... retro... land,
and never are one second late.
But, the fools who time stop lights
make us waste gas each light and wait.

It seems the physics of the task
doesn’t work on earthly streets.
To quicken distance, time or speed,
putrid planning oft competes.

Too many lights!

Post Debate

Post Debate

‘Tis time we tell the media,
“Don’t tell us what we heard”.
Don’t say who you think won or lost,
or how we should be stirred.
We’ve listened and it’s we who vote...
please do not interfere.
If we ever want some help,
we best not ask the gondolier.

Debate, 10/22/2012

Debate, October 22, 2012

The Prez says he is confident
he’ll win this day's debate.
Gee, I think that I know why
he thinks his chance is great.
Each day he gets a briefing
from those we pay to know
what’s happening across the world
by either friend or foe.
Poor Mitt can only watch
the fallout from his chair,
and know when things go wrong
that someone had to err.

Yesterday's Debate

Reflect on Yesterday’s Debate

Don’t reflect as blue or red...
or what your parents always said.
Forget the words oft filled with stain...
reflect upon the four-year reign.
Is it but a war yet won,
and peace, in time, for everyone?
Or, do we follow through the maze
repeating our cruel yesterdays?

The debt in four years has surpassed
what all, through time, before amassed.
Our countrymen have suffered so
near half of them are on the dole.

Reflect!

In the News-The Debate

Each debate

Oh, Lord, how I hate a debate.
The foes select facts and inflate.
The truth matters not,
and fibbing somewhat
is fine if the rhetoric's great.

Dancing With the Stars (Redux)

Dancing With the Stars (Redux)

When the dancer with least talent
is voted back each week.
It’s obvious to me
the star must have a massive clique.

Leave the voting to the judges.
Don’t let the audience critique.
Just let the best win the contest...
and this year’s show will be unique.

In the News-Polls

Polls
The pols should relish polls,
regardless what they say.
If your foe should win the poll,
support donations come your way.
If you win, you've met your goal
and made your rival’s hair turn gray.

In the News-Proteus (The Debate)

Proteus
(Greek Shape-shifting God of the Sea)

Pols must be kin to Proteus...
they make words shift their shape.
They do it, oh, so artfully
it leaves your mouth agape.
You challenge them on something
that you know isn’t right.
They then beguile, and, with a smile,
will morph your facts to look off white.

Dancing With the Stars

Dancing With the Stars

When judges cull the best from less,
they’re giving you advice.
When you respond of whom you’re fond
your vote is imprecise.
The contest is for dancers...
not who’s best of sports or stage.
Most tyros of the rules of dance
do not have any way to gauge.
Enjoy the program, applaud your star...
don’t vote for them if less than par.

In the News- Total Recall

Total Recall
The Governator wrote a book...
they are his memoirs we are told.
And as we read, he says we look
at chapters of his life unfold.

Know, bios can be biased fact,
for as we age all recall dulls.
Life’s shards are oft bemusement packed
and taxing times the brain oft culls.

The heart oft fills reflection’s lack
when truth and twinge with writer vies.
Those subjects that with pain attack,
are those that oft become “True Lies.”
