In The News-Galaxy Vampires

Galaxy Vampires

Our galaxy has vampires,
and most of them type O.
If they meet another star,
they do a pas de deux.
I did not make this up.
Astronomers avow
the galaxy is filled with them…
and sipping from their frau.

Our sun is very small,
may not be seen perchance…
pray the vamps can’t find it
in heaven’s vast expanse.

In The News-The Olympics

The Olympics

Countries sent their athletes
to battle for the gold,
and those they sent to London
were striking to behold.

Teams marched into the stadium
with pride and dashing flair.
They may not know their future foe
but knew trials would be fair.

Each contender has prepared
for years to face this test,
and the contest will reveal
who is the world’s best.

I bow to you before you start…
it takes the brave to dare.
In my mind you deserve the gold
because you challenge there.

In The News-News

The News
My past poems were oft humorous…
the guffaws were quite numerous,
but lately laughs refuse to come
when each day’s news seem to benumb.

In The News-Letters From the Parties

Letters from the Parties.

We have a strange environment…
the red and blue share same abode.
We’d resided there in peace…
until our mailbox overflowed.

Committees for both parties
send letters by the ton…
each time they ask for money
before their hype is done.

We once donated money,
and you created litter.
When you just criticize your foe
the trash just makes us bitter.

In The News-NCAA vs Penn State

NCAA vs Penn State

I don’t know all the facts,
but you’ve gone to extremes.
Yes, penalize the school,
but don’t condemn its teams.

Sure, management is guilty,
and management should pay…
games o’er and done by scholars won
do not expunge away.

In The News-James Eagan Holmes...etal

James Egan Holmes…etal
(Aurora Killings)

Politicos, Amendment 2
says we can all keep arms.
I take it they are for defense
and not to kill he who alarms.

The laws passed to maintain that right
now border on inane.
They seem to grant an arsenal
to people quite insane.

You’ve put us in a quandary…
God said we must not kill,
but now we all must carry guns
to thwart the perps that will.

In The News-America's Got Talent

America’s Got Talent

Do our youth a favor…
let just adults compete.
Though some, first glance, seem abler
let childhood wend complete.

The price for fame is dear…
demands from it are high.
It becomes the puppeteer
whose strings can oft hogtie.

Vegas thrives on fantasy…
oft hard to know what’s real.
It’s maze can send one aimlessly
quite lost in the surreal.

Childhood is a period
when youths face many tests.
They learn to solve paths myriad
through life and its contests.

So let them have their childhood,
and naturally mature.
If their talent’s truly good
the gift will long endure.

In The News-Jackson, Whitney, Stallone...etal

Lure of Fame

Who can resist the lure of fame?
It lifts the value of your name.
But best, my friend, you pause to weigh
the price some pay for brief acclaim.

Maxims

Maxims

Peruse the world’s proverbs…
for morals they are custom’s herbs.
Those that wed in common thread
may hint therein a truth reverbs.

In The News-Lance, Bobby, Roger...etal

Sport’s Trials
(Lance, Bobby, Roger,...etal)

Again the money wasted
to prove the use of drugs.
You may erase their records,
but can’t remove the hugs.
Regardless how they reached the heights,
in their field they outshined.
Within their soul they have to know
if morals misaligned.
If steroids or a spitball
is how they chose to win…
remember pros all seek an edge,
in that they’re all akin.
So save our money, no more trials…
enjoy and let God judge.
I’ve tired assessing their denials
while mired in the sludge.

Aurora Noise

Aurora lights began to clap
some Finnish boffins say.
Perhaps the flares were no mishap…
just sun applauding  andante.

GFAJ-1 Bacterium and Arsenic

The lesson for today, my friends,
is though an expert speaks,
just listen well but wait to see
how much he later tweaks.

In The News-State Immigration Laws

State Immigration Laws

Many states have passed laws on
illegal immigration.
That tells the Gov their poor controls
are held in condemnation.
The Supreme Court says Gov alone
holds that responsibility.
The states imply to date they don’t
show reason or ability.

In The News-Caveat Emptor

Political Candidates

It seems to me I read somewhere
that salesmen are allowed to lie.
I think it was the Supreme Court
that said they but too amplify.
Our candidates try sell themselves…
take care on that you buy.

In the News-July 4th

Although it’s hot, I love July…
at least I love the 4th.
The music, rockets amplify
the love our Flag draws forth.
The music swells fidelity.
The rockets with their glow
will lume our symbol faithfully
safeguards all those below.

In The News-The Supreme Court (Lies)

The Supreme Court
 (Lies)
The Court says that you have the right
to lie about your deeds.
Amendments deem lies are alright
if they fulfill your needs.
Yet if you lie in court
they’ll throw you arse in jail...
I guess our Constitution
was writ in runic braille.
