The Laureate-March

We all love March, it ushers in Spring.
The flora awake and robins sing.
React with warmth and brotherly love,
to share in the Earth’s awakening.

The Laureate-The Awards

Some dare to use celebrity
to foist their will on you and me,
in fields of knowledge far astray
from coached debris that dons marquee.
{Just say thanks!}

The Laureate-Allies

Regard your allies as your friends,
but closely watch as their world wends.
If neither harms fidelity
then neither need to make amends.

The laureate-Sunset 22317

Each eve the sun displays on clouds,
Nature's, and your, tug-of-war.
It limns to you that which you faced,
but dare not tell what is in store.
(As rose morphs gray, prepare therefore.)

The Laureate-Taxes

I floundered through my income tax...
where pols have burdened all that wax,
where liars only meet the gauge
the Long Form has with pitfalls staged.
For Limits and Exclusions make
the Short Form that most voters take.
I say, this day, I've had my fill...
our every vote accomplished nil.

The Laureate-Birthright?

Years ago, pols passed a law...
as usual without our aye.
They said a child born past our fence
was now, as we, who earned our stay.

Now his parents state it's fair
the family was vetted too,
when voters never had a voice
in child, or perps, had that as due.

Eleven million people now
have made it past our fence.
They all now stay and have their say
with every known pretense.

When our pols enact vague laws
we should replace them without pause.

The Laureate-Politicians!

Take care when you try to impress.
State only that you can prove true,
for deeds that you may falsely dress,
when bared reveal defects in you.

The Laureate-Dear Prez 21617

It’s right to vet our visitors,
but also probe your advisors.
They too can do our country harm
if their actions ignite uproars.

The Laureate-A Valentine's Thought

A Valentine’s Thought

Oh Eros, your arrows must fly to her true,
and my passion for her contain.
The first sight she sees as barb breaks through
must will her this ardent swain.
A shaft sent awry, if someone’s nearby,
could send her love off to another.
A gaze at a mirror with someone else near her
and she might just wed her half-brother.
This worry, I think, could drive me to drink…
I have no control where you aim.
The stupid doubt Cupid, but I tend to think,
I’ll pray this terse verse fans a flame.

The Laureate-Life's Play

  1. Life’s Play
  2. {All the world is a stage...
  3. Shakespeare.}
  4.
  5. Regardless of the part you play
  6. in this day's scene you have your say...
  7. and you are the protagonist
  8. if others heed what you gainsay.

The Laureate-Mother Nature

{The Winter Storms}
Ma Nature switched from love to fear.
Her tender touch is now severe.
Seems lest we heed her earthly plan
She will make Her sentence clear.

The Laureate-Media Bias

Prez says the media is biased.
I dare say he is right,
The Blues say he goes off half-cocked.
The Reds say he's our Nation's knight.

{The biased speak the truth a mite.}

The Laureate-Our Red Congress

Now that the Reds are in control
they're passing laws they should say no.
Restraint on banks, and guns, and waste
 Congress is giving their heave-ho.
 {And billionaires smile...don’t you know.}

To the Prez 2417

Take care in what you say,
above all how it’s said...
and anger loosed on Twitter
throughout the world is spread.

The Laureate-My Cold

From whence came this vile disease,
these Lilliputian Erinyes?
But one penance to be served
or my “Toils of Hercules”?
