The Laureate-The State of the Union Speech

The State of the Union Speech

Although with eloquence he spoke,
did he but his blunders cloak?
Did he evade all current gaffes
and pray, with lies, our praise evoke?

The Laureate-This Independent!

This Independent!

I used to be Republican,
I am an Independent now.
With Red or Blue as groups I’m through...
you both seem to the rich kowtow.
(I vote for those with honor hue.)

The Laureate-The Market

The Market

Prez says he’s made the Market raise
and asks the working class for praise.
The rich alone have wealth to spare...
and Prez, grants them more giveaways.

The Laureate-My Prez 12818

My Prez 12818

If you didn’t do the deed,
why try so hard to truth impede.
Far better aid the search to end...
than to act like a critter treed.

The Laureate-The Prez' Wall

The Prez’ Wall

The price of his wall increases
each time that DACA is discussed...
and, he will try that ploy fore’er
until voters show their disgust.
{How high can the price of his pork go?}

The Laureate-Your Word!

Your Word!
{DACA et al}

Signed contract or verbal

fore’er disavow.

The Laureate-Sculpted Facts

Sculpted Facts

Sculpted facts, when used to skew,
abet a biased point of view.
It happens oft on media...
and all such facts lose that once true.
{When lies exposed, bid site adieu!}

The Laureate-Benton Kentucky

Benton Kentucky

Another school has faced the cruel
actions of a male in rage.
And, we are pressed to understand
how the person reached this stage.

In every case, a gun embraced,
killed and wounded foe and friend...
a weapon used to keep us safe...
and from that logic some transcend.

The Laureate-The Red and the Blue

The Red and the Blue

The stronger that you disagree
bodes vital that both sense each plea.
Red, or Blue, may taint the fuchsia ...
so strive that seeds find harmony.

The Laureate-The Ship of State

The Ship of State

The Ship of State is back afloat,
but Red Pols have no right to gloat.
They have agreed to meet with Blues...
that’s why the Ship could rarely cruise.

The Laureate-The Government Still Shutdown

The Government's Still Shutdown

Our Government must stay shutdown.
A solution cannot be found.
The pols of Red and Blue
have earned the voter’s boo...
and Prez’ help does but confound.

The Laureate-Government Shutdown

Government Shutdown

Prez acts like it’s a poker game
where he bets with our hard-earned cash.
If bluff not called, he will exclaim...
the Blues, have earned our harsh tongue-lash.

The Laureate-The Press

The Press

The Prez says the press repertoire
does naught but spread their lies afar.
He says his White House tells what’s true...
like Pravda for a Russian Czar.

The Laureate-Drain the Swamp Redux

Drain the Swamp Redux

The Prez has made some leave the fen...
some honest and with valued ken.
Those not ousted from his swamp,
have left to blend with lucid men.

The Laureate-Drain the Swamp?

Drain the swamp?

Crocs live with hippopotami
until the pool they share runs dry.
The Prez said that he will drain our swamp...
though he talks big, so was his lie.

The Laureate-Shun the Maven

Shun the Maven

Coffee, tea, red wine and whisky,
once in vogue to keep us frisky,
Now pundits say on any day
too much, too oft... is too risky.

The Laureate-Martin Luther King, Jr. Evoked

Martin Luther King, Jr. Evoked

He said don’t judge on hue of skin
in lieu of what's ensconced  within.
If souls be bared to common view,
how few would bid you, “Enter In.”

The Laureate-When Passions Fly

When Passions Fly
{The Prez lets fly ****-hole... }

When passions lend the stimuli,
suppress the act...do not comply.
Like the bee that stings in haste,
seldom can you rectify.

The Laureate-Braggadocio

Braggadocio

Prez speaks with braggadocio
and tries his best to buffalo.
But, when he lies to emphasis,
he kills the seeds that he would sow.

The Laureate-The Dossier

The Dossier

If facts are true in dossier...
and Red Pols would hide it away,
then it is best for you and me
to read the tome and have our say.

The Laureate-White Lies 11018

White Lies 11018

Some lie to ease a perceived pain...
for feel the truth but adds more strain.
But note, that time eventually
must let the truth all facts reclaim.
{You can delay...but who must pay?}

The Laureate-Infrastructure

Infrastructure

Prez brags about his new tax law,
but fails to note its major flaw.
It pays the debt pols owe the rich...
while infrastructure rots and falls.

The Laureate-The Rhythms of Life

The Rhythms of Life

Life’s tides will bring both joy and pain.
Chi, skill and wit all wax and wane.
At ebb you must repair and bear.
At flow new heights you can attain.

The Laureate-Feral Anger

Feral Anger
(Kim and Trump, et al)

Heed the thunder with its roar.
Like the piqued, fierce wrath of Thor,
power loosed without a leash
threatens all who lie before.

Fire and Fury Redux

The Prez is now our “Pooh-Bah”...
none higher in the land.
But, many bellow, “Boo” and “Bah”...
what is it I don’t understand?

allied with the pol schemers
he's now worst pol of all.

The Laureate-The Holidays Are Over

The Holidays Are Over.

For the holidays, my poetry
allowed both perps and pols run free.
I tracked the Prez ...read what he sez
and will respond eventually.

An askance glance at most his tweets
exposed the many he mistreats...
and bared the ego we all know
that masks his foibles with deceits.

The Laureate-Sports and Me

Sports and Me

I think that God does not like sports...
or warns me that I should not play.
For I was always out of sorts...
it seemed my bones are made of clay.

A football clip reduced my knee
to something that hurt constantly.
Basketball prompted me much pain,
it would too oft my ankle strain.
I turned to golf, what could go wrong...
seems that my grip was way too strong.
I climbed the mounts; explored the caves,
found far too many too-close shaves...
all my psychoses came into play
and left me as I am this day.
I prayed to God to name a game
that I can play to earn some fame.
He said relax and write a poem
if good, begin work on your tome...
regardless, just leave Me alone.
