The Poet-July

July
Believe it or not I like July,
despite it’s hot, I manage well.
I cheer on Independence Day...
I love this land in which I dwell.
Our flag lumed by the rockets glare
reminds me of the crucial fight,
which birthed our nation’s song
that Key, with pride, had penned that night.
On other days I find a pool...
where women’s suits are minuscule.
I check the bods they advertise,
while cooling off with huge Mai Tais.

The Poet-Illegals and the Border

Illegals and the border

Illegals and the border
contained in one long law?
Though both are worthy of debate,
to combine them is a flaw.
Different subjects, don’t you think?
Why treat them both as one?
You’ve let eleven million in...
it’s time the closing bell is rung.
Once the gate is truly closed,
address the ones who are illicit,
and do not use your legalese...

make all the rules explicit.

The Poet-Supreme Court....Again

The Supreme Court...Again
Don’t you think it’s rather odd
that when our High Court mix must change,
and Pres’ choice makes his debut,
some old decisions they estrange?

I guess each law’s semantics
are biased by the hue
and what was meant, or wrong intent,
has tint of Red or Blue.

The Poet-I'll Say It Again

{I’ll Say It Again}
The Morning Paper
I used to like to read the news...
I guess that I do still,
that is if I can find it
within the ads that fill.

A page and a half of ads
bar headlines from my view.
The sports page has the same
from news that has value.

And, then there are the stickers
to tell me of some sale.
To see the front page news beneath
I must peal to unveil.

The pages extra wide of ads
are never by me outspread.
All those gimmicks fill the trash
ere any worthy news is read.

The news is on the internet...
on radio and TV.
Take care, newspaper publishers

they too go with coffee.

Th Poet-Jodi Arias

Jodi Arias
Jodi was convicted
by a jury of her peers.
But, penalty restricted,
because death’s choice to some brought fears.

The judge decreed empanel
another jury to decide
if she should die to satisfy
that justice will not be denied.

She is guilty, first degree.
And one choice for penalty
is life in prison, no parole...
let God decide how long that be.

{Her crime has stripped he of her peers...
it’s time that logic perseveres.}

The Poet-Immigration Law

Immigration Law
When pols design a bill
eleven hundred pages long,
it takes forever to review
to find within what spin is wrong.

But let the measure pass,
before an eye can blink,
crafty lawyers find all holes
and perps though them will slink.

The Poet-Terrorist?

Terrorist?
Is there a type of terrorist
who is lowest of the low...
who lives among his fellow man,
but, his mores have grown fallow...
who lives within the internet
and, harasses from afar...
who cannot sense the damage done,
but, cares not even who they are...
the one who’s deeds seem juvenile,
not mature {maybe senile}?
(Treat them the same!)

The Poet-Surveillance

Surveillance
So they tap the telephones.
So they tap the internet.
If you are an honest man,
how bad can it get.

But people dial wrong numbers,
and perps spam in your name.
How do you know the NSA

won’t give you all the blame?

The Poet-Supreme Court?

Supreme Court?
The finest judges in the land
may have set bad precedent.
They ruled to vote, it is their stand,
one merely vows they’re resident.
Could then a perp who swears no guilt

have all offensive charges wilt?

The Poet-Father's Day

Father’s Day
They no longer ride a steed.
Yet, are they not the selfsame breed?
Their dragons, jousts and far crusades
are the battles fought to fill each need.

The Poet--Death

Death
Behind Death’s door one needs not spend
eternity without end.
Memoirs, memories, poetry
can aid one's essence live, my friend.

The Poet-Smoke Alcohol?

Smoke Alcohol?
Strange, is it not, some seek relief
from reality.
They drug themselves with anything
that morphs what they’d not see.

Their flagrant act cannot redact
that which God has prescribed...
and they soon pay the consequence

for toxins they imbibed.

The Poet-The Markets

The Markets
Bulls and Bears affect your affairs
but they care for themselves alone.
When the last bell rings as the markets close,
they smile at all the seeds they’ve sewn.
They try to push the pendulum,
that Mammon gilds with gold,
toward yang or yin, which will begin
to threaten all the stocks you hold.
But, Bull or Bear please take a chair...

let markets run by laissez-faire.

Thet Poet-Techology

Technology
Whoa! Stop! Take a break!
Let some time pass for heaven's sake!
Just bought the latest cellphone fad,
it's now an obsolete doodad...
there's just so much a nerd can take.
