The Poet--The Fools of April

The Fools of April
Comes April 1st the day of fools,
and most of them in Congress.
They are fools who now abuse
all taxes to the excess.
The tax forms are confounding...
a pro must sum that which we owe.
We find that is astounding,
when we’re assured tax will not grow.
Yet grow it does, but cunningly...
a tiny tweak on what’s allowed.
Things that normal men can’t see...
things that once they disavowed.

Yes, it is the day of fools,
but maybe they are us.
We have let them make the rules;
‘tis time we make a fuss.

The Poet--The “Madness” Trivia

The “Madness” Trivia
While I watch my chosen game,
please spare me all the hype.
The history lessons you provide
are to me no more than tripe...
the records from the recent past
affect nil now of options cast.

The Poet--March Madness

March Madness
I love the game of basketball..
I played when I was young.
And, when I watch “march madness,”
I’m once again among
the forwards and the guards,
but not within the trees.
For when I leaped to clear their height,
the landing hurt my knees.
I root for teams near whence I lived...
o’er years that totals many.
Although, I know few natives vie
within those teams...if any.

The Poet--Sequester Now

Sequester Now!
Sequester now bodes bad...or good.
It’s time that we best trim all fat.
Good health could come if Congress would
fix quickly ills the fools begat.

Our nation’s laws are cumbersome...
the sages can’t interpret them.
And hybrid bureaus now become
just monuments to mayhem.

So trim the fat from all thereat...
for that may be our hemostat.

The Poet--The God Particle

The God Particle
They saw the boson, boffins say...
before a blink it blew away.
If right, the bit can back “Big Bang”...
if wrong, it’s just another “Dang!”

The Poet--Comet Pan-Starrs

The Comet Pan-Starrs
Last night I watched the Comet
fly cross the heaven's sphere.
The fiery tale it bared to me
mixed beauty, awe...yet fear.
For heaven’s filled with wanderers,
though few too close to stay.
With all the universe to roam
why, near us do they stray?

When meteors ignite the sky,
I stay up to enjoy,
though comets and big brothers,
can all of life destroy.
To me they are but bothers...
they are but kismet’s toy.

The Poet--Again a Cliff!

Again a Cliff!
My God!  We face another cliff...
and we must face it days away.
The cast of players and their rift
again will force all logic stray.
Seems the parties Red and Blue
have polarized all votes...
let all turn gray and have their say
to keep the Ship of State afloat.

The Poet--Air Travel Rules

Air Travel Rules
Air travel has become much safer,
We soon may bring much more on planes.
Fuzz now must think themselves abler
to know that which now kills or maims.
A little knife that one can fold,
or corkscrew, golf club, hockey stick,
can hurt you on the ground, we’re told,
but should not hurt with perps airsick.

The Poet--Get Out of Jail Free

Get Out of Jail Free
We know you are illegal,
but Prez says let you go.
The law said you should stay in jail...
but we don’t have the dough.
If ever we find money,
we’ll call and you must come.

But Wait!   Give it a second thought...
most perps are not that dumb.

The Poet--Sequester?

Sequester?
Sequester is the term they chose
to fill us all with fear,
but don’t you know we had to go
where pols can’t interfere.

The Red and Blue kept arguing
with repostes of their choice,
but when all fell from off the cliff,
the fools have lost their voice.

We now must pare and peel
all rubbish found within...
and when we do let’s start anew
to choose with discipline.
