The Laureate-November

November...a time to remember.

Remember vets ...their service laud.
Thanksgiving Day give thanks to God.
And remember when you vote,
give only worthy pols the nod.

The Laureate-That's Entertainment?

I watch TV in comfort
until the ads attack.
For twenty minutes of each hour,
I’m besieged by noisy flack.

I have to turn the volume down
as eardrums ache in pain.
My hearing isn’t bad from age,..
it’s from the din the ads obtain.
(Didn’t our pols solved this problem?)

The Laureate-Federal Judges

Federal judges are appointed...
they’re minions of the Prez.
Forgive them if their verdicts vex
for they do but what Prez says.
{not necessarily the Constitution}

The Laureate-Deja Vu? (Jodi Arias)

Taxpayers spent a ton of cash
that penalty would not be rash.
First jury could not take her life
for fear mores would feel backlash.

But, we should learn from lesson paid...
no need new jury be arrayed...
no need the burden be on them.
Let Jodi choose ...death or stockade.
{confinement is loss of life}

The Laureate-Ebola (redux)

Though sages say there’s naught to fear,
but you feel they are insincere,
try not fly, or amplify
contact with those not held dear.

The Laureate-Ebola

Dear Prez:
You’ve often asked our soldiers fight
against a foe across the sea.
They left the land of their birthright
to face a virulent enemy.
You now propose to send our men
to fight a foe that few now know,
with weapons far beyond their ken,
and could be our new Alamo.

Send aid to help the land in need,
but not our troops to intercede.

The Laureate-Your Coming Vote

You’ve watched the boos and bravos
from candidates and their foes.
Now you must pick the honest words
from what the half-truth ads disclose.

You’ve read the replies on issues
that made some search for tissues...
from answers that were so oblique
they knew those were just ballyhoos.

No wonder fans of Blue and Red
tend to vote the tint instead...
a guide that’s fraught with danger
if parties merely stay inbred.

The Laureate-The Market

When dealing with the Bulls and Bears
have tight rein on your affairs,
for they are churlish animals
only tamed by billionaires.

The Laureate-Take Out The Trash

Graffiti, tagging, highway trash,
oft thought as youth a bit too rash.
But it’s our country they defile...
time patriots let canines gnash.
{Love it, or leave it.}

The Laureate-Political Ads

The ads I’ve watched {too many times}
inform me of contender’s crimes,
and your selection paradigms
are not worth two wooden dimes.
(Forsooth!)
