The Laureate-The Vote For President

When young we're forced to trust adults...
for parents and teachers shape results.
But as you age you reach a stage
when you must question all your welts.

You must reflect on every scar,
for each resides in a memoir...
and each has taught its lesson well,
for each now limns why/where you are.

Know as you vote the president
you'd have as White House resident,
the wrong choice bodes another scar...
which o’er four years you will lament.

The Laureate-Election Time

A time for oath and synonym...
a time when each their foe condemn...
a time when they each other fray...
and certainly not carpe diem.

The Laureate-To The Candidates 816

Remember promises now made
when elected move from shade.
The storms from which you seek alee
must breach our Congress barricade.

The Laureate-The Terrorists

As I muse the media
I’m shocked how terror reigns,
and not alone by ISIS,
but lunatics with twisted brains.

ISIS and the lunatics
are enemies opaque to view.
Like venomous pests that use the night
and wound if you to close pursue.

You need not live a life of fear
just because they are a threat.
Just be aware they may be near...
and let that be as close they get.

The Laureate-My Poetry Sites

My Thirteen hundred verses
display both smiles, or curses.
but it is always up to you
the hue with which you chose to view.

The Laureate-To The Donald

If you failed to first impress
by statements said without finesse,
the Gordian Knot
that you begot,
Is hard to cut to fend distress.

The Laureate-Voters Need Wisdom

Wisdom to pause and alter course.
Wisdom to talk in lieu of force.
Wisdom to learn from Mankind’s past...
and wisdom to vet ere you endorse.

The Laureate-Bias

The biased minds build walls quite strong,
though bias isn't always wrong,
Minds unfettered can fly free,
and can see the eau de vie.

The Laureate-Mores

Parents, teachers!  You're tasked to guide...
our mores must with you reside.
Babe to adult and far beyond...
give advice when orbs collide.

The Laureate-Small Business Rules

When politicians pass a law,
with provisos filled with awe,
they build no road to progress...
to tyros they erect a wall.

The Laureate-Try Again!

If, at first, you don't succeed
redefine the rules to heed,
for oft the problem was defined
when Time's scant knowledge can impede.

The Laureate-Solutions (N. Korea et al)

It often pays to alter course,
to talk with foes sans threat of force.
Calmly sit while scars are bared,
then seek to find a sane recourse.
(But all efforts are in vain
 if either party is insane.)

The Laureate-The Arts

To me the arts have retrogressed.
Critics now accept far less...
in tone condone cacophony,
which never is by solace blessed.
