The Laureate-Presidential Orders

The Cabinet should be the pool
of sages from the Hard Knocks School.
If they always nod an aye
for all the Prez may do, or say,
the voters roar may overrule.

The Laureate-Lawyers

When I was young I’d climb a tree
and blunders duly fell on me.
For judgment errors by a fool,
now lawyers use their golden rule.
“Sue Deep-Pockets. They were lax...
Some buy the products, all pay tax.”

That logic is the lawyer’s tool
and provides the judgment’s fuel.
The jurists are indeed his peers...
their common sense oft nears nadirs...
for they forget they’re guilty too.

The Laureate-To The Prez

Who cares how many did parade.
Care naught what tributes are displayed.
If your ego must excel,
be proud...it was your motorcade.

The Laureate-Dear Prez 12317

To keep denying what you say
may make supporters fade away.
For they must wait for evidence
that you have not led them astray.

The Laureate-Atomic War

Each day the waves accost the shore.
erosion can take eons or more.
But what is the plan
from Nature and Man
to survive atomic war.

The Laureate-Janus (Namesake of January)

Janus
(Namesake of January)

How often we like Janus gauge.
How oft we merely scan Life’s page.
In yore and vague tomorrow,
we wallow and find sorrow...
when this day’s trials we must assuage.

The Laureate-To The New Prez

Trump will soon be President
and if he earned your vote, or not,
you should give him your support...
despite that which his foes allot.

The Laureate-As You Age

As you age most tasks grow hard.
The easiest goals need more regard.
But, if you'd serve your progeny,
tell what you learned when lessons scarred.

The laureate-Trump's Cabinet

Can billionaires be impartial
when their money spans the earth...
and each decision made
can raise or lower their worth?

The Laureate-Nepotism

Nepotism
{To whom it concerns}

If in thanks for money dark
or aid to kin to build an ark,
those acts are called malfeasance...
and in a cell the prat should park.

The Laureate-Security

Our tax pays for security...
not just for Prez...but our country.
And we have asked our greatest minds
to solve the problems they foresee.
(A fool demands a guarantee.)

The laureate-Congressional Ethics

The pols would have complete control...
even of their mores.
Like pay, and say of what flows dark...
and all we cringe at nowadays.

The Laureate-The Poet

The poet must but paint the scene...
and you interpret what is seen.
Forever in the game of life
we tend to chase but what we dream.
