In The News-Detritus

Detritus

We came to Japan’s aid
when Nature made things crash.
O’er waves detritus strayed…
we offer back your trash.

In The News-Memorial Day

Memorial Day

As you enjoy sun and parade,
let love and gratitude pervade.
Remember those who died for you…
brave lives that for your freedom paid.

In The News-Bison

The Bison

Are our esteemed politicos
enraptured by the buffalos?
Can a two-ton animal
become our cherished mammal?
Bald eagles are protected…
as food must be rejected.
Does that mean soon the beefalo
by law become a strict no-no?

In The News-The Campaign

The Campaign

They ask that I send money
that they can tell their tale,
then saturate the airwaves
and telephone and mail.
They tell their tale so often
they damn near drive me nuts.
They’ll get no more from me…
no ifs…no ands…no buts.

In The News-Justice

Crime Doesn’t Pay?

I really am confused…
thought crime should only pay
back that which was despoiled
whenever felons stray.

Seems every day I read
what judges now decree
the penalty for fraud,
manslaughter, larceny.

Too oft the perps are given
probation as their fine.
When crooks are let roam free
their logic’s asinine.

In The News-Incumbents

Consider Your Vote
Those who seek again our vote
must too obey all laws they wrote.
They too must man the painful oars,
not merely float on pleasure boat.

Much too often in the past,
the laws they wrote gave them a pass.
Make them rejoin the common man…
eliminate their self-sculpt caste.

It’s time that they must earn their pay,
show up to vote with “yea or nay”
on only that concerning all
our incumbents earned our "Nay."

In The News-JPMorgan Chase Bank

The Chase Bank
The ploy they played was like roulette,
chose red {and black} to hedge their bet.
Could play all day and walk away…
should have been a safe foray.

But money burned, like Rome by Nero,
when their ball stopped on double zero.

In The News-Mothers Day

On Mother’s Day

You may not be my mother,
but Mother’s Love embraces all.
The warmth that’s shared by progeny
is felt by all who stand or crawl.

That’s why we dedicate this day
to man’s most precious force…
the strength that’s lent to all each day
to keep the correct course.

In The News-Gay Marriage

Gay Marriage
The Prez sez let the Gays be wed…
that’s not a direct quote.
He seems care not who shares a bed…
if they give him their vote.

In The News-Underwear Bombs

Airport Security
Security said take off my shoes,
they checked for no holes in my socks.
Now with the underwear news,
I must prove shorts make no tick-tocks

In The News-To The Media

To the media
If you would serve all those who vote,
don’t just print contender’s words.
Present to us that which they tote...
voting and attendance records.

In The News-Cinco De Mayo

Cinco De Mayo
(Mexico)

“Cinco de Mayo!” you shout with glee.
You say this day you were set free.
Set free...to what...for thousands flee
...you never slew your enemy.

Some salved their pain but hurt lives on.
And though you shout the foe is wan,
he lives and he will never die
until your Nation’s ills are gone.

You would not need to move your bed
to other lands that you be fed,
if you’d stand tall and claim the spoils
brave others won through blood once shed.

Your land can feed your ev’ry need
if others dare not sate their greed.
So solve your problem there, your home,
...for only then will all be freed.

Political Candidates

When each declares the other lies,
and both of them are right.
You’ll probably find they’re party bound,
and but mere party acolyte.

In The News-May Day

Free Speech

Some lay on tracks or hug a tree...
they march for “cause celebrity.”
They merely want to strut some stage
and boast their name shares the marquee.

But, we must vow defend "free speech"...
pledge time and ear be granted each.
Yet, know our chore is to deduce
if good or ill does prod or preach.

It’s sad a cause on May Day
too often leads to melee.

In The News-Afghanistan etal

Afghanistan etal

Why do we endorse a war
where foe or friend are hard to bare…
where leaders and civilians
say go, but leave our money there?
How many more brave soldiers
must die on foreign soil,
when those who pledge to kill us,
when hurt, merely recoil?
It’s our land that we must defend,
so here, let’s make our stand.
Malevolence pervades this world…
secure our borderland.
