Time Grows Short

Time Grows Short

For Red and Blue, it is the time
that you resolve our country’s woes.
It’s time you now get off the dime...
unite and be no longer foes.

For when I vote I’ll purge from pack
all those who will not tint their hue.
For to leave this cul-de-sac
that’s what those who are left must do.

Emmy Awards (Reality Shows)

Emmy Awards
(Reality Shows)

Those shows are not reality...
they are in fact a game.
In every show participants
seek limelight, money, fame.
A TV show’s reality
is nothing like real life.
For most would quickly end it
if faced with so much strife.
If you acquiesced
to long incarceration
with a group of con artists...
you booked a bad vacation?

In the News-47 %

47%
Near half don’t pay an income tax...
some poor, some rich, some parasite.
Mitt says that they, as voters all,
will support who gave this right.

The Prez sez Mitt has made a gaffe,
and roused those voters to his side.
I agree he roused near half,
but Mitt as Jekyll, not as Hyde.

True countrymen must aid distressed
but it must be by all the rest.

In the News-Bullies

Bully Beware!

Some will sneer like Fu Man Chu
and try to fake the role.
Others will demand their due
with warlike rigmarole.

Little ploys like snarl and bellow
will work if you’re a bear
but if it’s not within the marrow
impostors should beware.

For those who find you tiresome
may sense your pantomime
and guises can be burdensome
once you’re past your prime.

Far better that you check your goal
and find a better course.
For tyrants who have played this role
oft end with dire remorse.

In the News-Circumcision

Circumcision

Circumcision is in the news
though it’s been used for ages.
The German courts say do not use
in baby’s early stages...
must wait until he’s old enough
to make his own decision.
And, until he learns the facts
there can be no incision.

You must tell your teenage boy
they’ll rid  the ring around the collar.
And, if you want him to consent,
state what’s left will truly wow her.

In the News-Riots

The Riots
(Nakoula Basseley Nakoula)

Freedom of speech is a right
protected by the Constitution.
But, when its use is for abuse
those harmed want restitution.
Your neighbors, friends and country
have suffered from your lapse of wit.
At very least apologize,
and try to quench the flames you lit.

In the News-Mobs

Mobs

There’s naught that is more dangerous
than a stirred up mob.
And, nobody more dangerous
than he who does the job.

He’s playing on emotions
of those who seek a cause.
They oft react to zealous speech
though it be filled with flaws.

So, never join a rabid mob...
wait until the fervor clears,
especially, if they’re terrorists...
or conventioneers.

In The News-9/11

9/11/2001

Those martyred in the towers
eleven years today
were sacrificed by terrorists
as message they’d convey

They hoped their act of violence
would prove their power to
dictate to our nation
and threaten me and you.

We found that they awakened us
to that which we hold dear...
our pride in facing crises
with fervor and not fear.

And every anniversary
of this so tragic day
pledge to vow we will not let
our fervor e’er decay.

The Middle Class

The Middle Class

The leaders of the red and blue
say they love the middle class.
Strange that’s where some started, too,
but since then they did wealth amass.

They don’t share my mayhem
to keep one’s head afloat.
I very rarely hear from them
until they want my vote.

I’ll tell you how to save me now...
as my nest egg fast decays.
Please, no longer tax endow
to those whose honor frays.

Repeal all bad entitlements...
that’s how to tax the well-to-do.
Ensure our taxes aren’t misspent...
imprison all who do.

Our mores should never become less.

The Conventions

The Conventions

I could not listen every hour...
my ears quite soon wore out.
Apple pie and Chevrolet
get tiresome when they shout.

Platitudes with attitudes
can turn what’s sweet to sour...
especially if a simple thought
is prated for an hour.

Romney and Obama
are known good family men,
but when repeated o’er and o’er
I start to count to ten.

I question all the data
oft skewed to taint the facts...
when foes react with bias
I must weigh two abstracts.

I’m faced with a decision...
the record and the pledge.
One feels his plan will work o’er time...
the other wants to use a sledge.

In The News-Brazilian Banana Spider

Brazilian Banana Spider

Those who make Levitra,
Cialis and Viagra
 may have found another way
to make your partner say hurrah.

They heard banana spiders,
with toxins to the max,
can keep one quite erect...
but wait to get more facts.

The bite releases poison...
and that can lead to death.
Though sex is fun, when deed is done,
it’s not worth your last breath.

The Primaries

The Primaries

Primary votes are cast
and I am quite aghast
Same fools, I fear, who led us here
may fail again…alas!
