The Poet-The Nine

The Nine
Nine illegals crossed the line
to criticize our laws.
And, when they then tried to return
their logic has great flaws.
They all stayed here illegally...
and each is but a perp.
They’d now come back, again bivouac
to stay here and usurp.

The Poet-Principles

Principles
(Filner, Weiner, et al)
Politicos excused themselves
from laws that bound their mores.
Then, with our vote, reclaimed their seats...
for haze obscured their foul trapdoors.
But, when they break the laws of God,
our vote should bid them, “Nevermore.”

The Poet-Who's the Wiener?

Who’s the Wiener?
If Huma supports her Weiner,
to all what that does say
is she now puts her mores
for all upon display?

He’s proven he’s immoral,
yet, he asks for the vote.
When she stands by his side,
she too must his sins tote.

The Poet-Electronic Cigarettes

Electronic Cigarettes
Tobacco’s nicotine and tar,
though users have been told can kill,
are still dispensed both near and far.

Now e-cigs have become the rage,
and though to some spur now a thrill...
know nicotine still struts the stage.

Those cigs may help some smokers quit...
and to some that concept will
help damaged lungs to knit.

E-cigs are flavored to attract,
yet some should feel a chill...
lest they should find one more setback.

The Poet-Big Brother

Big Brother
You call your show reality.
Regrettably, you may be right
Mics and cameras everywhere...
an NSA delight.
Contestants are all egoist...
just like most of our teens.
Deceit and lies predominate...
but few now know just what that means.
Logic is not practiced...
neither is the Golden Rule.
What led to this reality...
they are no longer taught in school.

The Poet-Earth-like Planet

Earth-like Planet
Star gazers found a planet
that’s pretty much like ours.
I wonder if it’s filled with smog...
from aerosol and cars.

It’s over forty light years...
too far for a vacation.
But as we trash our planet Earth,
we'll need a choice for mass migration.

The Poet-Trials (Zimmerman)

(I've said it before!)
What’s happening to justice?
Is trial by your peers
meaningless if lawyers choose
those steered by puppeteers?
Both sides are given the same facts
and then debate begins.
It’s very strange that different tacks
decide who sinks or swims.

Observers find the jury’s choice,
of either pro or con,
leaves them unsure if truth prevailed…
or best orator won.

{Regarding truth, but God may know...
  He selects who's sent below.}

The Poet-The Reunion (Redux)

The Reunion (Redux)
Do not exhume the old times,
yet fail to share what’s new.
Don’t laugh at all the hushed crimes...
and accept that’s all you’ll do.
Always leave Time’s door ajar...
and pray all share their next memoir.

The Poet-The Reunion

The Reunion
This is the place for which I’ve yearned.
Yet, there’s regret that I’ve returned.
Did I expect that naught would change,
and memories would not be burned?
I’ve journeyed far that all could meet
(nine hundred miles through desert heat)
to help my clan again recall,
those times, long past, with joy replete.
But Time dealt with some kin unkind...
our paths no longer can entwine.
Now angst fills every empty chair
and we now share a soured wine.

But as I feel each warm embrace,
all joy filled years again retrace.
For all did come--in hearts for some-
to gather in this meeting place.

The Poet-Fourth of July

4th of July
As you gaze upon the sky
as rockets fill the night,
and Sousa’s marches make you cry…
our flag lit by their light,
remember good men fight and die
to shield our dear birthright.
