My Olympic Goodbye

My Olympic Goodbye

Olympic Games are over,
the torch is now at rest.
Athletes vied to prove to all
they stand above the rest
.
You that did, or did not, win
bronze, silver or the gold
return now to your countries...
with fame pealed out tenfold.

You’ve proven dedication
can solve most worldly plights...
now dedicate your prowess
toward peace in the floodlights.

Libor, JP Morgan Chase Bank...etal (Redux)

Libor, JP Morgan Chase...etal (redux)

I just cannot trust banks
no matter where I chose.
With Libor and Chase Bank ...etal,
their gambling can my savings lose.
The price to live keeps rising...
the interest rates do not.
Yet, Gov will tax to save the banks
regardless what they plot.
Should hide cash ‘neath my waterbed...
not worry banks from honor stray.
And, if my mattress springs a leak,
my funds decay...either way.

Somewhere in our laissez faire
can’t we protect one’s derriere.

In The News-Government Pamphlets

Government pamphlets

I just perused the pamphlet
that helps choose candidates.
Half of it in English...
half EspaƱol translates.

Since thoughts may not convert
exactly to conform,
it’s cheaper and more meaningful
to have all learn the norm.

In The News-Mars' Curiosity

Curiosity

NASA sent a vehicle
all the way to Mars.
If life lives there, perhaps we can
sell them some bizarre sports cars.

If there’s no one to see it,
then pray it won’t get lost...
for it must assay everything
to recompense its cost.

In The News-Astronomy

Astronomy

The universe is dangerous…
we better strategize.
The black holes and the vampire stars
slay suns before our eyes.
We cringed at dodging meteors
and ducking gamma rays,
but now we have the meaner guys
on ravenous forays.

In The News-To The Candidate

To the Candidate

If you would be my serving man,
do not but smear the other guy.
I say, respond with Kipling’s plan,
reveal what you deem went awry…
and when and how, with what, and where
you’ll solve the problems you declare.

In The News-New AZ Laws

New AZ Laws

Three hundred sixty bills, and more,
the Governor has signed.
And, many of them I have read
seem from a deranged mind.

Hunters can use silencers…
guns endless bullets store.
They who cannot hit their prey
should at least shout “Fore.”

A business that conducts a test
to see if it pollutes
doesn’t have to tell a soul…
and thus avoids lawsuits.

These, but two, of many laws
that do not safeguard me…
imply to me politicos
pass on absurdity.
