I did not know that presidents

can modify the laws.

Prez says illegal residents

can have just minor flaws.

Both Houses join to legislate…

the Prez agree or abrogate

Did the Prez add his footnotes

so he can get some needed votes?

In The News-The Middle Class

The Middle Class

Pols seem to hate the middle class.

They saved the banks and caused morass.

The pols said banks should never fail,

when most who loan belong in jail.

Our tax, which upright people pay,

was lent to them…without our “aye.”

The Gov then cut the interest rate…

again pols seemed the bank’s helpmate.

They get new money very cheap…

the rest who buy CDs but weep.

The interest rate the banks give us

could frankly cause a saint to cuss.

Our costs now rise by three percent…

reaction should be evident.

The middle class is soon to vote…

pray for some pols “that’s all she wrote”.

In The News-The United Nations

Where are they when oppressors fight,

and children quake throughout the night?

Where are they when the tyrants kill

all those who rebuff their will?

Where are they when, at Nature’s whim,

good people find their outlook slim?

If all your nations are united,

why such terrors unrequited?

We used to fear the mafia…

now we should fear the media.

For they have mass control o’er minds…

and sway where fame and fortune winds.

A nod from them can lift a life;

their scowl can often bring on strife.

Yet, we condone this fickle force,

if silent on what they endorse.

Notice a politico

when asked to state his stance,

on any touchy subject,

his favored theme he chants.

Even in designed debates,

with questions aforesaid,

he’ll blather on forever

on what he’d preach instead.

In The News-Edwards Trial

John Edwards don’t get cocky.

The judge that set you free

did not say you were innocent…

just had a hung jury.

It’s obvious selecting

a jury of your peers

had lawyers oft neglecting

to check between their ears.

Some seemed to buy the story…

the millionaires who gave

cared not for White House glory

nor if he was a knave.

Too bad!   They set a precedent

for pols to steal our alms…

for Congress or for President

filch freely, without qualms.
