Greet The New Year’s Baby

Let’s greet the babe on New Year’s eve

and pray he’s not like last years child.

The only goals he did achieve

made germs and nature too damned wild.

 

Let’s take this babe and be caring,

Let’s teach him what is right or wrong.

While coddling with our warmth sharing,

pray natures acts won’t get too strong.

Bad habits that you try to cure

are like life’s changes you endure.

At first you cringe at the mere thought

‘till you find fear will conquer naught.

So solve them, or let them remain,

pray on your soul they’re but a stain.

Time will, with age, bad habits heal...

and shameful habits he’ll conceal.

 

New Year’s Resolutions

My usual resolutions,

like all I vowed in New Years past,

proved my habits have poor solutions

for those that I chose all  failed to last.

And I now find my aging mind

has affected my memory.

So I’m inclined those traits maligned

can fade and let my conscience be.

Christmas is near, and cards to friends

renew our bonds prove warmth still blends.

If  kith and kin must stay at home,

When The Don finds he’s in trouble,

he sues for a lot of money.

If they withdraw brags go viral...

a loss activates his fury.

Mammon guides its wavered course.

Greed vies to be its power source.

Waste not one minute

searching through a pane opaque...

unless much at stake.

 Arizona Gerrymandering

The AZ gerrymandering

has made me an Independent.

O’er twenty years their foul machine

has lost my vote...I revolt vent.

Some say Dems, too, gerrymander...

I look to see who is the worst.

If votes are fair that Dems augur

and GOP is most accursed,

my votes for Dems will be disbursed.

Though young, I still remember

how on that fateful day

the look of shock in mother’s eyes

said that our world had just turned gray.

 

Then came the deprivation...

rationing for our army’s needs.

The radio and the cinema

swelled our hearts with their brave deeds.

 

Resolve and toil helped win that war.

but those who bore that world war

Physicist to Poet

As physicist, I did relent

when I retired I folded tent...

decided to leave that fab field,

and see what poet’s lives can yield.

I heard that poets don’t get rich

and oft to prose smart writers switch.

Twenty-seven hundred poems

published in my ten books of gems

never made me wealthy,

but readers keep my mind healthy.

Thousands at home and foreign bent

have never had to pay one cent...

because love shown when they return

The records of Trump’s dark secrets

expose his many wayward acts.

Taxes, sex crimes what disquiets

may be more crimes he enacts.

Let’s pray Justice strip

blindfolds and provide a whip...

make crime toe the line.

 

Thanksgiving day we laud

the favors we received from God.

Kyle Rittenhouse killed two and walked.

Can this be considered justice?

The judge and the jury balked...

what they did was senseless.

 

Kyle needs help to understand

what he did was murder.

What Kyle did, though unplanned,

will need much help to alter.

 

The jury should have claimed “No way

we can resolve this crime,

but can we change our nay

to alter his mindset o’er time?”

Bullies rule in school,

but as they age size is cruel...

Time makes them struggle.

Does Trump’s base realize

if he loses next election,

he may return with his ”Big Lies”

and maybe more insurrection.

How many times the money spent

when he recounts all of the votes?

Will they, as now, never relent

until Trump can smile...and emotes?

 

Red Senate Pols Crisis

Red Senate pols must tell their base

how they voted on the Dem bills.

They ought to have to face disgrace

expose their irrational ills.

{Trump doesn’t like the bills of blue...

your base may love what blue bills do}

 

 

Trump Blew His Coup

The Don is attempting to block

what he said before his failed coup.

It is best that The Don now takes stock...

his rebellion had gone askew.

 

Friday’s Senryu {Fear}

Monsters are not real.

Fear and doubt stir mental rout...

chi best set mind free.

 

The American Legion

Their loyalty is legion,

they’re veterans...every one.

They fought to save our sovereignty,

but, the task seems never done.

 

Though they’ve passed their weapons on

to their brotherhood of peers,

they’re joined to those who keep us free

on dangerous frontiers.

 

The Legion stands beside those men,

for all have walked along same path.

Who better to offer  aid to them 

than those who faced the Horsemen’s wrath.

Those many tales o’er time amassed,

may morph the longer they mature.

Just how much longer can truth last

if a new mind takes a detour.

 

But I don’t search for a memoir

that tells the self-same story.

I would consider that bazaar...

if that deduced now not agree.

Accept his lies or he’ll abort

and for them it will be curtains.
