The Poet-Olypians

Olympians
As I watch Olympic games,
and hear the stories there,
I must admire that you compete
with all the pressures you must bear.
All your efforts to excel.
All the pain from muscles torn.
Are the medals that you seek
just payment for the load you’ve borne?
And when you wake to face your foes,
body aching, mind in stress,
you rise to face the cruel unknowns
that the milieu may possess.
Win, or lose, your feat lives on...
until your strength of will is gone.
