The Reunion
This is the place for
which I’ve yearned.
Yet, there’s regret that
I’ve returned.
Did I expect that naught
would change,
and memories would not
be burned?
I’ve journeyed far that
all could meet
(nine hundred miles
through desert heat)
to help my clan again
recall,
those times, long past,
with joy replete.
But Time dealt with some
kin unkind...
our paths no longer can
entwine.
Now angst fills every
empty chair
and we now share a
soured wine.
But as I feel each warm
embrace,
all joy filled years
again retrace.
For
all did come--in hearts for some-
to gather in this
meeting place.
