How can rich politicos
represent the common man,
when those who wax on wealth
must think that life is grand?

Current Events-Obama's Message

Obama's message to the nation
has many problems cured.
Same remedies
he used with ease
to get our votes assured.
But three years wait did not abate
one symptom of our ills.
It's evident
the President
is hawking sugar pills.

Current events-State of the Union

One day each year we wait to hear

our country’s current state.

We wish to know if ebb and flow

still keeps this nation great.

Again we find our thoughts preempt

by commentary cry

The President must state, by law,

where country’s assets lie.

He must tell us where we have been

and where we now should go.

He must tell us just where we stand…

on path or Alamo.

Yet long before he states one word

the critics have their say…

experts who give their advice

and taint with “Yea” or “Nay”.

Then when the President is through,

we’re told that which we heard.

We’re told on which we should agree

and how we should be stirred.

Then comments from across the aisle

oft twist and stain each hue.

They tell us what they would have done,

and change is overdue.

Then comes again the media

to counsel you and me

With pundits they alone did choose…

who lecture artfully.

We all should state, we wish no help

to translate what we hear

It’s those who would ordain our good

that all of us should fear 

Current events- newspaper acronyms

Acronyms can singe ones soul.
They oft can cause the readers woe.
You best define what you consign
or know you but conundrums sow.

You who would be President

must reason infantile.

If half the people spurn you,

their votes oft cross the aisle.

All the promises you make,

in faith and good intents,

cannot be done by you alone…

oft Congress circumvents.

But, we thank God you ask to try

keep float the Ship of State.     

Yet, know we seek a John Paul Jones

as sharks accumulate.

Political Candidates

If you’d run for office,

best assay your past sins.

For when your hat lands in the ring

the filleting begins.

Far better you tell everyone

why you are not a saint.

For they that fine-tune microscopes

will oft find that you ain’t.

If morals, logic or your past

are dappled by your lies,

you’ll have to answer them anon…

and crave don’t wave “Bye-Byes.”
