The Laureate-Gun Safety

Gun Safety

If weapons are for protection,
from what dangers must you now shield?
Since anger seems to spur most foes,
‘tis best to leave when it’s revealed.

Mannerisms may be best clue...
what bearing does a face comport?
If any actions bother you,
the present plans you should abort.
{Better leave...than grieve.}

The Laureate-Pols Procrastinate

Pols Procrastinate

The pols returned, but time just burned...
all bills await Trump’s call.
Moscow Mitch is not concerned...
word comes from Trump, Fox, or Limbaugh.

The Laureate-Age Turns The Page

Age Turns The Page

I limped through my teens from football...
today I still ache each footfall.
Why do I watch on fall TV
the game that had disabled me?
(Take care! The pols we next may choose
may us forever leave a bruise.)

The Laureate-Say Nay to Trump's EPA

Say Nay To Trump’s EPA.

Trump brags that US markets rise
as it distorts protective rules.
The middle class finds no surprise...
Trump gives rich perps unfettered tools.
{Though perps air, water...life abuse!}

The Laureate-9/11/2001

9/11/2001
Those martyred in the towers
eighteen years today
were sacrificed by terrorists
as message they’d convey

They hoped their act of violence
would prove their power to
dictate to our nation
and threaten me and you.

We found that they awakened us
to that which we hold dear...
our pride in facing crises
with fervor and not fear.

And every anniversary
of this so tragic day
pledge to vow we will not let
our fervor e’er decay.

The Laureate-Trump's Reality Show

Trumps Reality Show

We wait to see our president
resolve the problems of our age.
But soon it is quit evident
he merely acts while on the stage.
