The Laureate-Opioids

Opioids

As you age you gauge each pain
to see how you can calm your brain...
to find that it is ever still
a measure of your strength of will
to opioids and drugs abstain.
{know that each day you’ve won the fray...
and stronger for the next foray.}

The Laureate-Sutherland Springs, et al

Sutherland Springs, et al

Our crises...anger management,
fury loosed to passion vent.
‘Tis better that one walk away
for death is the worst consequent.

Do not let weapons...gun or knife
be sold to those who threatened life.
Put on the list to whom not sell,
and we will find we’ll have less strife.
{and he who violates the list
should not with good men coexist.}

The Laureate-Museums

Museums

Museums exhibit works of art
and they are spread across the world.
But each can display but a part,
and you see but what they’ve unfurled.

If you would view the world of art,
you can’t tour all the art-form sprawl...
because the rich control the part
ensconced in some secluded hall.

The Laureate-The Media 11517

The Media 11517

TV towers now gird the world
and will send facts...or fantasy,
but if you launch the truth...that's curled,
know Man...and God, will critique thee.

The Laureate-Dynasties 1417

Dynasties

The rich fancy a dynasty,
demand wealth flow to progeny.
But what will guide them as they grow...
the yacht that ne’er sails stormy sea?
{and  Red pols gave to them the key.}

The Laureate-For the Prez {To Kim}

For the Prez

To Kim
Nine countries have gone nuclear...
your nation, (thank God) is the last.
The “eight”, in tough times, cogitate...
know rash mistakes bode their die cast.

The Laureate-November

November

Daylight we no longer save...
we wager days will now be cool.
Our toughest risk is to select
the best opts from our ballot’s pool.

On Veterans Day the choice is clear,
we owe them deepest gratitude.
They have kept us from nadir
whenever deadly troubles brew.

And finally, when we give thanks,
remember God above.
Thanksgiving Day it’s time to say
we’re thankful for his gifts of love.
