The Laureate-The Tax Reform
The Tax Reform
Give the rich more millions...
give Middle Class a whit.
Then ask that they adore you,
when you, and yours, glean most from it.

The Laureate-Colin Kaepernick et al
Each is a part of this great land
and free speech granted one and all.
But actions made to take a stand
are mute...and non-sense can appall.

The Laureate-The Prez and Jong-Un
When bullies brawl it’s always bad,
especially if it may harm you.
Know that while they push and shove,
you can not guess where bile may spew.
It’s time that someone loose a dove.

The Laureate-ACA Redo
Sometimes it’s hard to start from scratch,
but know quite well what doesn’t work.
It’s best you don’t erase the slate...
revise all that has caused a quirk.

The Laureate-The Affordable Healthcare Act
The White House wants to Act replace.
The Red pols but concoct disgrace.
For seven years they’ve vowed a change,
but so far they have but Red-face.

The Laureate-The Terrorists
The terrorists who hide from sight,
with scorpion’s and spider’s bite,
may find their mates know too they’re prey
and like those bugs with hugs indict.

The Laureate-Kim Jong Un
Kim Jong Un,
I rather doubt your people know
your country’s assets you now blow,
for weapons made to threaten war...
which may return as quid pro quo.

The Laureate-Life 91317
Our troubles larger, more to abhor,
than any our predecessors suffered before?
Did they but combat such minor woes
as poverty, pestilence, nature and war?

The Laureate-Hurricanes
Hurricanes are like our pols,
our media works overtime
to prep us for what they will do...
but never is what comes sublime.

The Laureate-Trump's Tweets
When my Prez is happy
or sorely taken aback,
it matters not
if truth or rot,
on Twitter he’ll react.

The Laureate-DACA
But fools would use their biased wrath
on those who entered without choice
to choose the proper legal path...
though since their actions earned a voice.
They learned our language, ne’er broken laws,
will serve our country without pause.
Though parents erred, no sin have they,
so pave the path to let them stay.

The Laureate-North Korea
Nine nations have gone nuclear...
you have become the last.
And those who have the bomb
are aware the pall it casts.
You have become the only one
to threaten all with your bombast.

The Laureate-September (9/11/2001)
Those martyred in the towers,
sixteen years ago,
were sacrificed by terrorists
to show the fear that they can sow.
They hoped their act of violence
would prove their power to
dictate to our nation
and threaten me and you.
We found that they awakened us
to that which we hold dear...
brought pride in facing crises
with zeal in lieu of fear.
And every anniversary
of this so tragic day
we pledge that we will never let
our fervor fade away.
